Family of Missing Arizona Mother Nancy Guthrie Renews Call for Help as Search Extends to Day 51

Guthrie family asks community to review camera footage, journal notes and observations as investigators continue searching Catalina Foothills area.

Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of NBC anchor Savannah Guthrie, has now been missing for 51 days, and her family is renewing their plea for community assistance.

Background

Nancy Guthrie was last seen January 31, 2026, after family members dropped her off at her home in the Catalina Foothills area of Tucson, Arizona, following dinner. The following morning, she failed to show up for a virtual church gathering, prompting her family to report her missing.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department, in conjunction with the FBI, has conducted an extensive investigation spanning nearly eight weeks. Authorities have searched construction sites, dump sites and a vacant home in the vicinity of Guthrie's residence.

Investigators are also examining vehicle movement in the neighborhood, specifically a white vehicle observed in the Via Entrada area at 10 a.m. on January 31 and again at 2:38 a.m. the following morning.

"They've got to have a reason that they're saying 10 a.m. the morning of the kidnap," said Nancy Grace, host of Crime Stories.

The Investigation

The FBI is continuing to analyze images of a masked man seen at Guthrie's front door on January 11, who appeared casual as he approached the home without a backpack or weapon.

In another image captured on February 1, investigators are examining footage of an armed man wearing a holstered pistol and a black Ozark Trail backpack who appeared at the front door in the early morning hours. Agents have requested neighbors provide footage between 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. on January 31.

"Nothing startles him. If you just look at the fluidity of his movement, there's no change in the tempo," said Robin Dreeke, a behavior expert and retired FBI special agent who analyzed the footage. "He seemed very fluid in all his motions and everything he was executing, even when bowing down to get a branch."

The FBI previously stated that all leads remain under investigation. Law enforcement is attempting to identify the type of vehicle seen on Ring camera footage at 2:38 a.m. on February 1, which was located within 2.5 miles of Guthrie's home.
