A Florida man has been sentenced to 73 years in prison after pleading no contest to killing three children and injuring three others when he veered onto a sidewalk while attempting to pass a stopped county bus.

The crash occurred on December 27, 2021, at approximately 2:45 p.m. on the 2400 block of Powerline Road in Wilton Manors, Florida—a city located just north of Fort Lauderdale. Six children were walking on the sidewalk when a 2009 gray Honda Accord driven by Sean Greer approached a Broward County Transit bus that had stopped to drop off a passenger.
According to court documents reviewed by Law&Crime, as the bus pulled out and attempted to merge back into traffic, Greer tried to pass it. The Honda nearly struck the bus before veering sharply off the roadway and onto the sidewalk, striking all six children. Authorities stated that after the collision occurred, Greer accelerated and fled the scene.
Andrea Fleming, age 6, and Paris Jones, age 5, died shortly after being struck. Laziyah "Minnie" Stukes, age 9, was hospitalized in critical condition along with another child. Laziyah succumbed to her injuries in July 2022—more than six months after the crash.
The Investigation
Debris left at the crash scene helped investigators identify the vehicle they were seeking. They located a gray Honda Accord matching the description and observed that its damage was consistent with involvement in the crash. Most notably, the vehicle was missing its front bumper—which had been recovered at the collision site.
Detectives spoke with a witness who identified herself as Greer's neighbor. The woman recounted that Greer returned home that afternoon and stated, "I f—ed up, and my bumper came off and caused a crash." She further reported that when Greer was picked up by his mother, he instructed her: "if the cops come by don't tell them whose car that is."
The following day, Broward County Sheriff's Office deputies located and interviewed Greer. He claimed he was driving home from Walmart when he "drove around a county bus" and struck a pole. Records revealed that Greer's driver's license had been suspended since 2016—meaning he was operating the vehicle without valid authorization.
Greer, who was 27 at the time of the crash, pleaded no contest to three counts each of vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a crash involving death before Broward County Circuit Court Judge Martin J. Bidwill.
"No one cares about your upbringing," Devera Stukes, Laziyah's mother, said during her victim impact statement, per WPLG. "Our children were not on Powerline Road but on the sidewalk."
The father of one of the surviving children walked out of the courtroom, stating simply: "He almost killed my son."
