A Wisconsin man allegedly traveling at nearly 105 mph barreled down a Madison road before crashing his Range Rover, ejecting and killing all three passengers inside the vehicle, authorities said.

Kyle Stansil, 40, had been drinking at a bar with several passengers before getting behind the wheel of the Range Rover on the night of Nov. 8, 2025, according to a probable cause affidavit obtained by WMTV. A witness from the bar described Stansil as "pretty drunk" and "tipsy" before he drove away.
The crash occurred around 1:28 a.m. in the 6800 block of Cross Country Road on Madison's southwest side. Police said excessive speed, alcohol and drugs were factors in the wreck. The Range Rover was traveling east at high speed when it struck a "No Parking" sign, dragging it more than 300 feet across open ground before returning to the road and slipping several times.
Stansil and all three passengers were ejected from the vehicle. Three of them died at the scene: Makiewa Turner, 43; Allen C. Wright, 50; and Kadija Barry, 31. A small dog also perished in the crash, according to the Dane County Medical Examiner.
Stansil was taken to a hospital in critical condition. He remained hospitalized for months before entering rehabilitation, his attorney told the court.
The Investigation
A warrant for Stansil's arrest was issued on Dec. 23, 2025, but authorities did not take him into custody until several months later when Monona Police Department officers located him. During a Thursday appearance in Dane County Circuit Court, a commissioner set his bond at $750,000 cash.
Prosecutors argued for high bail, pointing to the seriousness of the charges and alleged that Stansil had a "record of failures to appear" for court dates. Assistant District Attorney Lexi Keyes pushed back against any reduction.
"He killed three people," Keyes said. "I think $50,000 is absolutely too low for what he's done here."
Stansil's defense attorney countered that the bond was excessive, noting his client had spent months hospitalized and in rehabilitation following the crash and was still receiving medical treatment. The attorney also alleged Stansil had been "selling drugs while he was out" on pre-trial release.
Sophia Barry, mother of victim Kadija Barry, addressed the court directly during the hearing.
"I know you're going to do the right thing, but I don't want to see him out at all," Sophia Barry said, per WMTV. "He had no remorse. He didn't think about no one else but himself. And he's a risk."
The commissioner ordered Stansil to remain in custody on the $750,000 bond. If released, he must wear a GPS monitor, submit to alcohol and drug monitoring, and cannot contact the victims' families or leave Wisconsin without court approval.
Stansil faces 16 felony charges stemming from the crash: three counts each of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle, homicide by use of a vehicle with a prohibited alcohol concentration, and first-degree reckless homicide. He also faces six counts of homicide by vehicle use of a controlled substance.
