Alexis Flores, 51, has been extradited from Honduras to Philadelphia where he faces murder and kidnapping charges in the death of 5-year-old Iriana DeJesus, a case that went unsolved for more than two decades before DNA evidence linked him to the crime.

Authorities learned that Flores had served time in Arizona on a forgery charge and was deported to Honduras following his release in 2005.
"Few 'solid leads' emerged until its agents were 'notified that a DNA sample from an Arizona convict matched evidence taken at the Philadelphia crime scene,'" the FBI noted, adding that "Flores allegedly disappeared from the area at the same time the girl was reported missing."

In February 2026, authorities announced that Flores had been apprehended in Honduras. Despite his resistance to extradition, U.S. officials successfully returned him to Pennsylvania this week.
