A woman stepping outside her Erdenheim, Pennsylvania home to take out the trash was allegedly snatched by a man armed with a knife who held her captive for approximately two hours, forcing her to drive him around while he demanded money and later made her transport him to Philadelphia to purchase drugs, according to authorities.
Michael Charles Gordon, 33, was arrested Tuesday and charged with 17 offenses in connection with the incident that began Friday at 10 p.m. on the 700 block of Bethlehem Pike, the Springfield Township Police Department announced. The neighborhood sits roughly 13 miles north of Philadelphia.

After allegedly making the victim transport him across city lines, authorities say Gordon then demanded she drive him back to retrieve his own vehicle—only to discover it had been towed earlier due to a parking complaint.
"He finally got out of the car" at one last location, police noted, leaving the traumatized woman behind.

The victim told investigators she was frightened to report the kidnapping initially. On Monday, a victim advocate escorted her to speak with Springfield Township detectives. By Tuesday, authorities had identified Gordon as a suspect and taken him into custody.
